Daddy Yankee Bids Farewell to Music, Welcomes New Chapter of Faith
Daddy Yankee, a renowned figure in the reggaeton music scene, often recognized for popularizing the genre, has decided to retire from his musical career to concentrate on his religious beliefs.
During the final performance of his farewell tour on Sunday night, the musician revealed his intention to fully commit himself to Christianity and to abandon his stage name, opting instead for his birth name, Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez. The concluding concert of his tour, titled “La Meta” (The Goal), attracted a large gathering of supporters to a stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Daddy Yankee’s hometown.
In a post shared on Instagram on Monday, he declared, “Family: This day for me, is the most important day in my life… tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one,”
Accompanying the post was a video clip of Daddy Yankee announcing his retirement plans and his commitment to his faith. The post continued with a quote from the Bible: “‘For what good is it for a man to gain the whole world, if he loses his life? Or how much can a man pay for his life? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of his Father and with his angels, and then he will reward each one according to what he has done.’”
