No Money, No Lawyer: 2pac Murder Suspect Keefe D Will Use Public Defender
After several postponements, the only suspect in the killing of Tupac Shakur finally made his plea in court. TMZ reported on Thursday, November 2, that Duane “Keefe D” Davis showed up in court again. This time, he had a public defender assigned to him by the court and he officially pleaded not guilty to the murder charge. Davis had been arrested in September, but he had trouble finding a lawyer who would take his case. His first arraignment date was rescheduled by a judge when he came without a lawyer. He attempted to hire defense lawyer Ross Goodman, who was present at his second court date, but he could not secure the services of the Las Vegas-based attorney. The only suspect in the killing of Tupac Shakur finally made his plea in court after several postponements.
Davis is the sole survivor of the four people who were in the white Cadillac that had the shooter who fired at Shakur as he was in a car with Suge Knight on the Las Vegas Strip 27 years ago. He reportedly confessed in interviews and his 2019 book that he saw the shooting while he was sitting in the front passenger seat of the said vehicle. NBC News reported that he was charged with one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon. Authorities claim that Davis supplied the gun that one of the other three men in the Cadillac used to shoot the late rapper.
Knight is currently serving the rest of his 28-year prison sentence in California. He knows Davis well, but he previously said that he would not testify against him at trial. Davis is expected to appear in court again next week.
