The Smashing Pumpkins Need A New Guitarist And It Could Be You

On Instagram, the Smashing Pumpkins announced that they are looking for a new guitarist. The note said, “The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist,” and gave an email (SPGuitar@redlightmanagement.com) where interested people can send their résumés and other relevant materials. “The application process is open to anyone who may be interested.”

This comes after Jeff Schroeder, who had been with the Smashing Pumpkins for 15 years, left the band last October. The guitarist, who became a member of the Smashing Pumpkins in the mid-2000s, stated at the time, “Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path.” He added, “I wish the band all the success in the future. I will be watching and listening.” The Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha expressed their gratitude to Jeff in a shared statement, saying, “We thank Jeff for his ceaseless dedication to the band and our great fans. Words can not express our gratitude and appreciation for the friend he is, and being there for SP in the good times and the tough times, too.” The Smashing Pumpkins will be the opening act for Green Day on their Saviors Tour of North America, which begins this summer.
