Paramore Teases ‘Next Era’ Amidst Concert Cancellations

On Thursday, an Instagram Stories post conveyed a simple message: Paramore will not be able to participate and perform at "Vive Latino in Mexico City, Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogotá, and Lollapalooza Brazil in São Paulo" due to "unforeseen circumstances." It was also clarified that the Nashville indie band Kings of Leon would replace the pop-rock trio at all three events.

This news arrived two weeks after Paramore withdrew from this year's iHeartRadio ALTer EGO show, also because of "unforeseen circumstances." Around the same time, the band erased their social media accounts, causing some fans to express concern about the band's future.

However, in their latest statement, Paramore "apologizes for any inconvenience" and hinted, "They will see you in the next era."

Aside from this, Paramore has not spoken about its withdrawal from shows or commented on future plans. The band did recently hint at a Talking Heads tribute cover and a music video with A24, featuring Williams unveiling an oversized David Byrne-style suit jacket in a clip from the project that concludes with the lead singer performing a portion of "Burning Down the House."

The "Simmer" vocalist, York, and Farro are still scheduled to support several of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows on the European leg of the tour this summer. Regarding new music, Paramore has just completed its contract with Atlantic Records, making the band an independent entity for the first time in two decades.

"We've been really lucky. We always will have gripes — it's an industry — but we know that we've been really lucky," Williams stated before the release of Paramore's most recent album, This is Why, last year. "It's more just the fact that it's time to f—ing finish something. And it's time to know that we're not doing the same s–t that we've been on since we were teenagers. It's just going to feel so nice to start a new book. You know, like no more chapters of this one. Whole new book. And I’m excited."
