Lizzo Fights Lawsuit Amid “Ridiculous” Harassment Allegations
Music icon Lizzo is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit filed against her by three former dancers, Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez, who accuse her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Lizzo’s legal team has responded firmly, denying all allegations and requesting the lawsuit’s dismissal “with prejudice”. They argue that the plaintiffs are not entitled to any damages due to their own inappropriate behavior.
A spokesperson for Lizzo’s legal camp stated, “Any and all claims to the contrary are ridiculous, and we look forward to proving so in a court of law.”
The plaintiffs’ attorney, Neama Rahmani, has welcomed Lizzo’s agreement to a jury trial. The lawsuit alleges that Lizzo and her dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley, engaged in weight shaming and pressured the dancers into sexual advances at an Amsterdam strip club.
Lizzo has denied these allegations on social media, stating that the claims are exaggerated and come from former employees who have admitted to unprofessional behavior. Photos shared by Lizzo’s attorney, Marty Singer, suggest that the dancers willingly socialized with performers backstage after a topless cabaret show.
In addition to this case, another lawsuit has been filed by fashion designer Asha Daniels against Lizzo, her production company, tour manager, and wardrobe manager, Amanda Nomura. Daniels accuses Nomura of perpetuating stereotypical portrayals of Black women and using derogatory terms.
Despite these legal challenges, Lizzo was recently honored with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award by the Black Music Action Coalition for her philanthropic contributions and commitment to social justice.
