Rome Ramirez to Leave Sublime with Rome After 2024
Rome Ramirez, the lead singer and guitarist of Sublime with Rome, is set to leave the band by the end of 2024.
He says in a statement, “After almost two remarkable decades, I am announcing my departure from Sublime with Rome at the close of 2024.” He adds, “The next year’s shows will let us look back on many amazing moments we shared!”
He intends to continue his solo career and hints, “I’ve got some really big news that I can’t drop yet.”
“Being part of this legendary band has been an incredible experience and totally awesome,” Ramirez says of his time in Sublime with Rome. “I’m honored to have carried on the Sublime legacy.”
Sublime with Rome started in 2009 when Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh, the surviving members of Sublime, revived their old band with Ramirez, who was 20 years old then, as a replacement for the deceased Bradley Nowell. They first used the name Sublime but had to change it to Sublime with Rome due to legal reasons.
Gaugh left Sublime with Rome after they released their first album, Yours Truly, in 2011, making Wilson the only remaining original Sublime member. Sublime with Rome released two more albums, Sirens in 2015 and Blessings in 2019, with different drummers, one of them being Josh Freese from Foo Fighters.
Ramirez’s announcement of his future exit follows Wilson and Gaugh’s reunion on stage at a recent charity concert, where they were joined by Jakob, Nowell’s son, on vocals and guitar.
