PETA Comes For Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton $1Mil CROCODILE skin Handbag

PETA is angry with Pharrell Williams for his new creation as Louis Vuitton’s men’s creative director: a $1 million bright yellow bag made from crocodile skin. The animal rights group that opposes speciesism, and the abuse of animals in any way, such as for food, clothing, entertainment, or research sent him an open letter from PETA’s Senior VP Lisa Lange. The letter says, “We hoped you would go vegan when you joined Louis Vuitton, because that’s what today’s ethical and eco-friendly consumers want. But we are disappointed by your ‘Millionaire’ Speedy bag, which uses crocodile skin, because fashion from animals is not beauty—it’s cruelty.” The letter goes on, “A PETA Asia investigation saw workers at LVMH’s suppliers cutting live crocodiles’ throats and pushing metal rods down their backs while they were still alive. Another investigation showed workers at LVMH’s suppliers hitting pythons on the head, hanging them in the air, blowing up their bodies with water, and cutting them open — even as they moved.” Lange asked Williams to see the horror for himself at a crocodile factory. “You’ll need nose plugs and high boots to walk through dirty, smelly water,” the letter says. “If we go inside a tank, bring a flashlight, because there’s no sun. This is clear. Killing wildlife for a bag is not cool—it’s cold. Will you join us?”
