Snoop Dogg's Genius Ad Campaign Trolls the Internet: “I’m Giving Up Smoke”
Snoop Dogg is the king of trolling on the internet. He made everyone freak out when he posted: “After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke,” making it seem like he was quitting his favorite hobby. But it was all a prank — he was not talking about his weed, he was talking about his outdoor fire pit. “You’re probably thinking, ‘Snoop, smoke is your signature.’ But I’m over it. Over the coughing and the sticky icky smell on my clothes,” Snoop Dogg said in a new video on Monday. In the video, he shows that he was actually promoting a product: Solo Stove’s fire pit that doesn’t produce smoke. “I’m going smoke-free — Solo Stove fixed fire,” he says in the video. “They take out the smoke. Smart.” At the end of the video, he is seen enjoying some marshmallows over the fire pit and laughing to himself. He fooled everyone — asking his followers to respect his privacy in this hard time — and got paid for it. How smart is that? He’s cashing in on his joke. And his followers fell for it. He posted some pictures on Instagram to make his act more convincing. In one, he has tears in his eyes as he looks away from the camera. In another, he has a black and white filter and he closes his eyes, as if he was thinking about life without flames. “Natural high,” he wrote under the picture. One user commented: “Bro fighting demons 💀.”
Another said: “I really hope you’re documenting this transformation. I think a documentary on it would be a fascinating watch.” The documentary they are talking about is the Solo Stove ad, which you can watch on Instagram and Twitter.
