Cassie Ventura and Sean “Diddy” Combs Settle Sexual Abuse Lawsuit
On Friday, singer Cassie Ventura and famed music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs announced that they had settled a lawsuit that Ventura had filed against Combs the day before, accusing him of sexual abuse.
The lawsuit claimed that Combs had subjected Ventura to “abuse, violence and sex trafficking” for years, starting from 2005, when they began a sporadic relationship. Combs was also her employer at the time. Ventura said he enticed her into a “drug-fueled, fast-paced, and ostentatious lifestyle, and into a romantic relationship with him,” when she was only 19 and he was 37.
The pair reached an agreement less than a day after the lawsuit was filed.
“In order to have some level of control over the terms, I have chosen to resolve this matter amicably,” Ventura, whose full name is Cassandra Ventura, said in a statement. “I am grateful for the unwavering support of my lawyers, fans and family.” Combs said: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”
The lawsuit also said that Combs physically assaulted Ventura, and described “savage” attacks in which he kicked, punched and stomped on her.
She also alleged that Combs raped her when she tried to end the relationship in 2018. Combs, a Grammy-winner who is widely known for launching the careers of artists such as Mary J. Blige and the Notorious B.I.G., denied Ventura’s allegations in a statement through his lawyer.
