Trey Songz's Legal Woes Continue as 2 More Women Accuse Him of Sexual Assault
Trey Songz finds himself entangled in a fresh legal battle as two women come forward, alleging that he sexually assaulted them while they were asleep during a 2015 incident at his Los Angeles mansion. The Grammy-nominated rapper, aged 38, has been named in a lawsuit that seeks compensation for the consequences of this incident.
According to reports from TMZ, Michael Freedman, an attorney representing the artist, contends that this lawsuit is a recycled version of nearly decade-old allegations, exploiting California's contentious extended statute of limitations. Freedman expressed the singer's resolve to prove his innocence in court.
The women recount that they attended one of Trey Songz's shows in June 2015 and were subsequently invited to an afterparty, followed by an invitation to his birthday celebration at his Los Angeles residence in August of the same year. To gain entry into the mansion, they were required to surrender their phones and enter a password.
These women have described the birthday party as having a predominantly female attendance with only a few men present. They further claim to have experienced being drugged at the event, alleging that they were coerced into consuming alcohol from unsealed bottles, leading to an overwhelming state of intoxication.
The women state that they found themselves seated by the pool on a couch when Trey Songz, the "Slow Motion" artist, took them to an upstairs bedroom in the house. Their recollection includes passing out while in the bedroom and subsequently awakening to discover that they were unclothed, with Trey Songz allegedly engaged in non-consensual sexual acts.
One of the women accused Trey Songz of performing oral sex on her without her consent and persisting despite her objections. The other woman reported that she realized Songz was digitally penetrating her and biting her nipple. After the women declined Songz's proposal to shower together following these alleged acts, they claim he became verbally abusive, exclaiming, "You are little f****** girls, get the f*** out of my house."
Songz withheld their phones, and they had to wait for a security guard to eventually return them before they left via an Uber ride.
This lawsuit comes on the heels of a similar legal battle four months earlier when Trey Songz faced a sexual assault lawsuit from a woman who claimed he exposed her breast without consent during a 2013 pool party. Moreover, in February of the same year, another woman filed a separate $25 million lawsuit, alleging that Trey Songz had raped her in 2016.
In this latter case, the anonymous plaintiff, referred to as Jane Doe, not only pursued legal action against Songz but also targeted his production company, record executive Kevin Liles, and Atlantic Records, claiming that these entities should have been aware of his behavior and failed to control him during the event. Jane Doe's attorney asserts that the incident resulted in profound emotional distress and even led to the abandonment of her promising career due to the subsequent humiliation.
